Exam Validity Period and Extension Policy | Polestar Pilates Asia

Exam Validity Period and Extension Policy

SUMMARY

This article explains how long students have to sit their Polestar qualification exam after completing their course, and what is required if that deadline is missed. It applies to all students enrolled in Polestar certification programs through Polestar Pilates Asia.

HOW LONG DO I HAVE TO SIT MY EXAM?

Warning
Students are required to sit the relevant qualification examinations within 1 year from the date of the final course module. If this deadline is missed, additional requirements apply depending on how much time has passed. See the Extension Policy section below. Candidates might be required to retake all or some of the course modules (at 50% discount to regular full module fee or 50% discount off the course fee if resitting the full course) after this period.

Ensure your log sheets have been 100% signed off. Sign-offs made more than 15 months before the date of the intended exam date will not count and have to be redone.

Re-take Exams

If you did not pass your first exam attempt:

  • Your retake must be taken within 6 months of the first sitting.
  • After 6 months, you may be required to retake course modules (at 50% discount) before resitting.
  • A third attempt may require module retakes prior to sitting.

Idea
We recommend a minimum of 3 months prep for a re-take exam OR the student does extra mentoring and is APPROVED for retake readiness.

EXTENSION POLICY — DELAY BEYOND THE 1-YEAR VALIDITY PERIOD

If your exam sit date will exceed 1 year from your final course module, the following requirements apply based on how long past the deadline you are.

Info
ℹ️ Curriculum change note: The policy below applies only where the curriculum and exam have not changed during the delayed period. If the curriculum or exam has been updated, a full course retake is required regardless of the delay period.

0–6 months past the 1-year deadline

No module resit or additional mentoring required.

  • Submit a formal application to PPA for our records
  • Provide compelling supporting evidence (e.g. medical documentation, employer letter, relocation evidence)

6–12 months past the 1-year deadline

Mentoring sessions required (no module resit).

  • 1 mentoring session (2 hrs) per overdue month, capped at 10 sessions / 20 hrs total
  • Written readiness confirmation from your mentor, submitted at least 1 month prior to exam

13–24 months past the 1-year deadline

One module retake plus extended mentoring required.

  • 1 Non-Gateway module retake
  • 15 mentoring sessions (30 hrs total)
  • Educator may require additional hours based on assessed readiness
  • Written readiness confirmation from your mentor, submitted at least 1 month prior to exam

24–36 months past the 1-year deadline

Two pathways available — students may choose either:

Path A

  • 2 Non-Gateway module retakes
  • 20 mentoring sessions (40 hrs total)
  • Written readiness confirmation from your mentor, submitted at least 1 month prior to exam

Path B

  • Full course retake at 50% resit discount

💡 PPA recommends Path B for delays beyond 30 months, given the competency risk associated with extended time away from training.

36+ months past the 1-year deadline

Full course retake required (Non-Gateway modules) at 50% resit discount. No exceptions.
