Apprentice teaching is a critical component of your Polestar Pilates certification journey. This hands-on practice allows you to apply your learning in real teaching scenarios while accumulating the required hours toward your qualification.
Who Can I Teach?
You can complete your apprentice teaching hours by teaching:
Fellow students from your course or other Polestar programs
Friends and family members
Mentor or Educator during a mentoring session
IMPORTANT: All teaching sessions must comply with your studio's policies. Contact your host, mentor or course coordinator before scheduling apprentice sessions to understand any specific requirements or restrictions.
Your apprentice teaching hours must cover all equipment related to your enrolled course:
Proportional Distribution Principle
Allocate your teaching time across equipment proportionally based on your course content. If your course dedicated more time to Reformer exercises than Chair exercises, your apprentice teaching hours should reflect this same emphasis.
Example: If 40% of your course focused on Reformer work, approximately 40% of your apprentice teaching hours should involve Reformer instruction.
Identify your total required hours based on your course (100 hours for Comprehensive, 50 hours for Mat or Reformer)
Review your course materials (Comprehensive students: understand the relative emphasis on each equipment type)
Confirm studio policies regarding apprentice teaching before scheduling
Schedule sessions that allow you to practice teaching across all required equipment
Record each session in your logbook immediately to maintain accurate documentation
Review your logbook regularly to monitor equipment distribution (Comprehensive) and remaining hours
While meeting equipment requirements is essential, focus on teaching quality during these sessions:
Apply teaching principles learned in your course
Practice cueing, observation, and modification skills
Seek feedback from your teaching subjects when appropriate
Reflect on each session to identify areas for improvement
Use Your Logbook
All apprentice teaching hours must be recorded in your official Polestar logbook. Your logbook serves as your official tracking mechanism throughout your certification journey.
